Hedges on tap for Zappa's "Odd" movie idea
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Peter Hedges has signed on to write and direct "The Odd Life of Timothy Green," a modern-day fable based on an idea by Ahmet Zappa.
Zappa and Scott Sanders will produce the film for Walt Disney Studios.
Disney is keeping plot details under tight wraps. The project is understood to be a high priority for the studio.
Zappa, son of Frank Zappa, is a principal at Disney-based production shingle Monsterfoot Prods. and also runs Kingdom Comics, the studio's graphic novel publishing unit.
Hedges received an Oscar nomination for co-writing the screen adaptation of "About a Boy." He wrote and directed the Steve Carell comedy-drama "Dan in Real Life."
