BERLIN (Reuters) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Monday there were signs of irregularities in Iran's presidential election and urged a transparent examination of the results.

Speaking at a joint news conference with Zimbabwe's Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, Merkel said Germany was "very worried" about developments since the Iranian election and condemned a "wave of arrests" by the government.

"There are signs of irregularities," she said.
