US declines auto suppliers request for new aid

WASHINGTON, June 16 (Reuters) - The Obama administration will not extend new assistance to auto suppliers, a government source said on Tuesday.

Suppliers had sought billions of dollars in loan guarantees in addition to the cash assistance granted earlier this spring to help them weather the severe automotive industry downturn. (Reporting by John Crawley, editing by Leslie Gevirtz)
