STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN, Jun 16 (MARKET WIRE) --
SmartTrust, a developer of Mobile Device Management (MDM) and SIM
management software for mobile operators, today announced that Infotrust
has joined the company's certification program. Infotrust, a leading
supplier of Integrated Circuit Cards, becomes the 22nd SIM card vendor to
take advantage of this unique and valuable process.
Cards certified through the SmartTrust program support SmartTrust Wib(TM),
a smart card-based application environment, and are fully interoperable
with the SmartTrust OTA server, which helps wireless operators easily
develop and rapidly deploy SIM-based value-added services to their
subscribers. More than 1.6 billion SIM cards containing SmartTrust Wib
have been manufactured and distributed.
Through SmartTrust's certification program, smart card vendors ensure
their implementations of SmartTrust Wib are compliant and supported by the
SmartTrust Delivery Platform. Vendors must complete a battery of over 300
tests associated with SmartTrust Wib and GSM standards before a SIM card
can achieve SmartTrust certified status.
"SmartTrust Wib is found on SIM cards around the world," said Mr. James
Hong, CTO, Infotrust. "Joining the SmartTrust Certified program will allow
us to have our implementations thoroughly tested, giving our customers the
assurance that our cards will be fully interoperable with their SmartTrust
Wib-based applications deployed today and in the future."
SIM cards with the SmartTrust Wib installed not only execute operator
commands sent to the SIM over the air, but also allow operators to build
and remotely maintain a portfolio of SIM-resident services designed around
the SIM Toolkit (STK). The SmartTrust Wib specification has become the
cornerstone of dynamic STK services including mobile banking,
entertainment and subscriber self-care.
"The addition of Infotrust to our certification program further supports
our desire to help deliver open and interoperable offerings that are
compelling and useful in today's competitive marketplace," said Jeff Bork,
CEO, SmartTrust. "Infotrust builds on our continued belief of giving
service providers and handset makers access to a wide range of top-notch
products and strengthens the position of SmartTrust Wib as the de facto
industry standard for building and running dynamic STK services."
