Pivot3 Helps Sea-Tac Airport Meet Critical Surveillance Needs With Green Storage
and Server Technology; Saves 40 Percent in Power and Cooling
PALO ALTO, Calif.--(Business Wire)--
Pivot3, Inc, the market leader in High-Definition Storage, today announced that
the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport selected Pivot3 Serverless Computing
for a project that transitioned its highly critical surveillance environment
from analog to digital while preserving the existing investment in analog
cameras. The airport was able to save 40 percent in power and cooling by
deploying virtual network video recorders (NVRs) on the Pivot3 Serverless
Computing platform in place of physical servers.

"The Port`s vision is to be an environmental leader; we look for new
technologies that help us meet this goal while maintaining the highest
protection levels for our passengers and employees," said Chris Evans, Port of
Seattle system administrator for Access Controls Systems.

"We are pleased to see the rapid adoption of Serverless Computing deployments in
the government transportation market," said Lee Caswell, founder and chief
marketing officer at Pivot3. "The reliability requirements of this market are
well-suited to the failover and recovery features in Serverless Computing, and
the green benefits kick in immediately."

The implementation involves 121 TB of Pivot3 storage, including virtual servers
for more than 300 cameras. Pivot3 Serverless Computing is the first and only
clustered storage solution that simultaneously runs NVR applications on IP SAN
hardware. Virtual NVRs eliminate the need for standalone physical servers and
dramatically reduce the cost, power, space and failover benefits of surveillance
installations.
