PITTSBURGH--(Business Wire)--
With the heightened concerns around the safety and quality of patient care
associated with the use of flexible endoscopes, Mobile Aspects announced the
general availability of their endoscope tracking system, iRIScope. Debuted
recently at the Annual Course of the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and
Associates (SGNA), the solution provides a patient-centric approach to manage
the utilization, cleaning, reprocessing, and storage of endoscope equipment
through the use of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology.

The announcement coincides with a public hearing held today by the House
Committee on Veterans` Affairs (VA). The hearing is being conducted in response
to findings at several VA medical facilities that endoscopic equipment had not
been properly cleaned and reprocessed prior to use during patient care. In turn,
these issues have lead to concerns over the potential spread of infectious
diseases such as HIV and Hepatitis due to the improper management of the
equipment.

"The development of our iRIScope solution was specifically targeted at improving
the processes associated with the utilization and management of endoscopic
equipment. As this equipment is reused in environments that are often quite
busy, process control and quality monitoring is incredibly important," commented
Suneil Mandava, Mobile Aspects President and Chief Executive Officer. "Through
the deployment of this highly automated system the leverages RFID technology, we
look forward to helping care providers create the safest, highest quality care
settings for their patients."

iRIScope provides an easy-to-use solution to automate clinician workflows
supporting the `round trip` of endoscope utilization, cleaning, and
reprocessing. In turn, alerting and notification services delivered to cell
phones or PDAs to communicate potential issues of non-compliance or safety risk.
Cabinet-based units support instrument storage and protection while RFID
technology tracks instrument location and status to deliver a centralized and
accurate approach for endoscope management. Lastly, flexible reporting and
analytics tools provide detailed summaries of operating performance attributes.
