LAS VEGAS--(Business Wire)-- Prepaid Card Holdings, Inc. (OTCBB:PPDC) announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary Merchant Processing International Inc. DBA Bank Freedom has been selected by a union with over 1,000,000 members to provide a prepaid debit card program for its union membership and their families. Under the co-branding agreement Bank Freedom will act as the program manager and the cards issued will bear the union's name and branding. The prepaid debit card being offered to union members can be used to withdrawal cash at over 1,000,000 ATM`s worldwide and over 30,000,000 merchants worldwide. Specifics of the contract were not released. Prepaid Card Holdings, Inc. CEO Bruce Berman stated, "We have been working on this contract since December 2008 and now it is a reality. We intend to begin offering our co-branded cards to the union members third quarter 2009 and if all goes well we expect to see revenue from the program in the fourth quarter of 2009. There is a natural process between card issuance, card delivery, card usage and revenue recognition that can take several months or more especially in a program this size. Bank Freedom prides itself in offering a valuable, much needed financial product as well as a established brand in the prepaid debit card industry and this contract is a big vote of confidence in Bank Freedom by a major union." About Prepaid Card Holdings, Inc. Prepaid Card Holdings, Inc. through its wholly owned subsidiaries offers emerging prepaid card solutions that can act as an alternative to a traditional checking account and debit card. There is no NSF, Overdraft or Bounced Check charges or fees with a prepaid card. Since the card account is prepaid (usually with free payroll direct deposit) the company can offer a 100% guaranteed card account approval (subject to verification of ID.) As the prepaid card industry evolves more and more employers, unions, federal, state and local governments are turning to debit cards to make payments to their recipients. According to market data available, there are an estimated 100 million people in the United States who don't have a bank account or who can't qualify for a credit card because their credit scores are too low. This is called the underbanked or unbanked market. For the unbanked or underbanked, the evolution taking place with prepaid cards can replace their reliance on check cashing centers, money orders, and the inability to buy certain products that require a major credit card.
