TULSA, Okla., June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Educators are constantly looking for
ways to improve the learning materials available to their students, while
working with limited budgets. Many teachers experience frustration when trying
to update their classrooms because there are few opportunities to utilize one
of their most valuable resources: other teachers. Connecting teachers and
their surplus resources is the pioneering idea behind hootofloot.com, created
by Tulsa, Oklahoma web designer Edward Shane and his wife Cheryl, a public
school instructor.

Hootofloot.com is the first website of its kind to allow registered schools,
teachers and home school parents to place inexpensive classified ads on a
website. To post an ad, users sign up for a hootofloot.com account and pay a
fee of $1.50 or less per ad. Users are able to post their items into
well-organized categories that can be easily searched by site visitors.

"We think a low cost classified ad is better than free classifieds, because
people are more likely to post desirable products that relate to the web
site," said Edward Shane. "It not only provides current teachers the ability
to update their classrooms for a fraction of the cost, but it also enables
retired teachers to dispose of unneeded items." Retailers that sell education
related materials can also post ads to help sell clearance items.

"Books or instructional materials that are still perfectly usable get disposed
of or buried in storage rooms everyday," explains Cheryl Shane. "We came up
with this idea to help schools reclaim some of their investment in tools they
no longer utilize and at the same time help teachers and schools with limited
funds to find great materials in their own cities or across the country."

Hootofloot.com contains a large variety of goods ranging from art and crafts
materials to textbooks and furniture. Once registered with the site, teachers
may buy or sell materials.
