President Clinton Delivers Call to Action at Laureate International
Universities in Peru, Spain and Brazil

Asks students, faculty, government and business leaders to be active citizens,
get involved in positive change

SAO PAULO, MADRID, and LIMA, Peru, June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- President Bill
Clinton, founder of the William J. Clinton Foundation and 42nd President of
the United States, challenged students in Peru, Spain and Brazil to become
citizen activists for the environment, their communities and those in need.
He delivered his message of social entrepreneurship during speeches at three
Laureate International Universities schools: Universidad Peruana de Ciencias
Aplicadas in Lima, Peru; Universidad Europea de Madrid in Madrid, Spain; and
Universidade Anhembi Morumbi in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

At each appearance, President Clinton called on those in the audience to get
involved in effecting positive change locally and globally. "We all have a
responsibility to do what we can to make the world better," said President
Clinton. "Every private citizen has a public responsibility. That is the
meaning of civil society: to fill in the gaps in what government in the public
sector cannot do alone."

During these visits, President Clinton spoke directly with students,
encouraging them to get involved and make a positive impact in people's lives.
His appearances on the Laureate International Universities campuses were seen
by more than 40,000 students in Brazil, Spain and Peru.

Social activism on a global scale is the mission of the Clinton Global
Initiative, which asks leaders in government, business, technology, science
and education to make a commitment to solve some of the world's most pressing
problems. Last December, Laureate International Universities made a
commitment to provide 1,000 scholarships to teachers to help them earn an
advanced degree in education.

"The mission of Laureate International Universities is to make education more
accessible and affordable so that more students can pursue their dreams," said
Douglas L. Becker, chief executive officer of Laureate Education. "It's a
mission we believe will help make the world a better place, because when our
students succeed countries prosper and societies benefit."
