Summer Headlining Tour to Launch July 9 in San Diego, CA
NEW YORK, June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The summer of Pete Yorn is upon us.
With the June 23 release of Pete Yorn's Back And Fourth still a week away -
and an exclusive iTunes pre-sale beginning today - critics are already hailing
the alt-rocker's fourth Columbia Records release as one of his strongest.
Alternative Press gave the album four stars, The Huffington Post hailed it as
"mesmerizing, in perpetual alt-pop motion, and on course as one of the best
albums of 2009," and Performing Songwriter called it "the most introspective
disc of Yorn's career."
Beginning today, the complete album - along with bonus track "Rooftop" - will
be available exclusively via iTunes. Back And Fourth will hit stores and all
other digital platforms Tuesday, June 23. Yorn will celebrate the release with
an intimate New York City club performance, June 18 at Joe's Pub, and then on
June 24 at the Roxy Theater in Los Angeles. He completed a spring tour with
Coldplay June 4, and returns to the road as a headliner July 9 for a two month
run highlighted by multiple nights in New York City, Chicago, Minneapolis and
Los Angeles (tour dates below).
Recorded in Omaha, NE, with producer Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Rilo Kiley),
Yorn says the album was inspired by an escape from his everyday routine, and
the change of pace between hometown Los Angeles and more rural Nebraska. "I
think I found a different kind of inspiration there that helped carry the
record home," he says.
Yorn will perform lead single "Don't Wanna Cry" June 22 on "The Tonight Show
With Conan O'Brien," and appear on Los Angeles indie radio giant KCRW's
Morning Becomes Eclectic, June 23, the morning of the album's release.
