LOS ANGELES, CA, Jun 16 (MARKET WIRE) --
High School graduates who are considering college are wondering about job
prospects when they complete their college education, considering the
unemployment rate is the highest in 25 years. Some graduates would like
to find a job right away, but the big question is -- can they find one in
these challenging economic times?
It is no secret to America's nearly 15 million unemployed that finding a
job is a real challenge in this economy. While the rate of job losses
seems to have slowed, the unemployment rate could remain high for some
time. According to the US Department of Labor, "This past May, our
economy lost 345,000 jobs, bringing the total number of jobs lost since
this recession began to 6 million. The overall unemployment rate
increased to 9.4 percent."
What will make the difference between finding a job to pay the bills
versus finding a job that a graduate will find rewarding and interesting
is the amount and quality of experience on the resume. College graduates
will compete not only with other students but also the educated and
experienced unemployed.
The Hubbard College of Administration's (HCA) Applied Science Degree of
Management and Administration was developed to give students from around
the world the opportunity to experience a school that has both a robust
class curriculum plus a unique apprenticeship program at local businesses.
After each theory module, the student undertakes on-the-job training to
demonstrate that they can apply what they learned in class. Thus the
students are building a meaningful resume as they go through the
self-paced associate degree program.
"When our students first go out on an apprenticeship assignment following
the completion of theory study, they are somewhat apprehensive," said HCA
Deputy Executive Director, Nick Terrenzi. "In our Associate Degree
program students get a real career education of theory in a classroom
which is at their own pace, then an apprenticeship at a nearby business.
They come back with great success stories plus new-found certainty and
confidence. We believe that this is what a college education is all
about."
