Kinnear, Preston join Cyrus in "Last Song"
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Greg Kinnear and Kelly Preston will play the parents of Miley Cyrus's character in "The Last Song," the big-screen adaptation of the upcoming Nicholas Sparks novel.
Julie Anne Robinson is directing the movie for Walt Disney Studios.
The story centers on a rebellious teenager who is forced to spend the summer with the father who left her years earlier.
Kinnear plays the estranged father, a former Juilliard professor and concert pianist. Preston is cast as the mother.
Already in the cast is Liam Hemsworth, playing a member of the local cool crowd, a beach volleyball player with Ivy League dreams.
Kinnear last starred in "Flash of Genius" and "Ghost Town" and recently wrapped Paul Greengrass' "Green Zone" opposite Matt Damon.
Preston next appears in "Old Dogs" with her husband, John Travolta, and Robin Williams.
