OSLO, June 19 (Reuters) - Norway approved on Friday StatoilHydro's (STL.OL) 5.7 billion crown ($891.6 million) plan to boost recovery rates and extend the life of Troll, the biggest oil and gas field in the North Sea.

"The Troll projects will contribute to getting more resources out of the field and will increase the field's lifetime," Oil and Energy Minister Terje Riis-Johansen said in a statement.

The project envisages the installation of a third gas pipeline from the Troll A platform to the Kollsnes onshore processing plant and gas injection at the Troll B platform.

StatoilHydro is the operator of Troll, whose partners include Norwegian state-owned Petoro, U.S. ConocoPhillips (COP.N), Anglo-Dutch Shell (RDSa.L) and France's Total (TOTF.PA).
