US reality TV stars Jon & Kate to split-report
NEW YORK, June 22 |
NEW YORK, June 22 (Reuters) - The stars of the reality television show "Jon & Kate Plus Eight" have decided to split up after 10 years of marriage, People magazine reported on its website on Monday.
The move ends months of speculation about the couple, Jon and Kate Gosselin, who along with their eight children -- twins and sextuplets -- are the subject of a hit show on the TLC cable network.
"Documents to initiate a legal split were filed in Pennsylvania," where the family lives, on Monday afternoon, the report said, quoting a "source close to the situation."
The report came hours before a widely promoted episode promising a "life-changing" announcement for the family was set to air.
Rumors of infidelity and the couple's tense relationship have filled the tabloids, and scenes from the reality show's fifth season showed the couple barely speaking to each other.
Last month's season premiere, in which they dismissed speculation about infidelity, drew nearly 10 million viewers.
