Brazil dollar inflows total $380 mln to June 19

BRASILIA, June 24 (Reuters) - Brazil's central bank said on Wednesday dollar inflows to the country this month through June 19 reached $380 million.

The central bank bought $1.59 billion in the spot foreign exchange market this month through June 19, said Altamir Lopes, the head of the central bank's economics research department.

Data on dollar positions showed banks were less bearish on the Brazilian currency, the real BRBY. Banks cut their long dollar positions to $483 million on June 19 from $1.34 billion at the end of May.

A long position on the dollar is a bet that the currency will strengthen against the real. (Reporting by Isabel Versiani; Writing by Elzio Barreto; Editing by James Dalgleish)
