MessageWay Managed File Transfer Accelerates and Secures Multi-gigabyte Media
Transfer Workflow
LIVONIA, Mich.--(Business Wire)--
MessageWay Solutions, Inc., a leading provider of high-performance managed file
transfer solutions for enterprises, today announced that the Travel Channel has
successfully deployed MessageWay Managed File Transfer (MFT) to centralize
governance and automation across all pre- and post-production digital media
movement worldwide. By replacing multiple legacy file transfer methods including
FTP servers, third-party collaboration services, and couriers with a single
instance of MessageWay MFT, the Travel Channel is now benefiting from secure and
rapid movement of its intellectual property, from submission of dailies to
post-production release to syndication. MessageWay`s lights-out business process
management functionality now enables the Travel Channel to achieve end-to-end
governance and security across external and internal transmissions, including
those involving inbound pre-production files containing up to fifty gigabytes of
raw footage.

The media and broadcast industries can present extreme challenges to online bulk
file transfer including the enormity of content files, narrow unforgiving
transmission windows, and geographically diverse location crews and production
facilities. MessageWay`s unique ability to stream extremely large files without
limit on size and without degradation in system performance enables the Travel
Channel`s pre-production content to be delivered almost instantly, from anywhere
to anywhere, with integrity and without intervention by IT staff. MessageWay`s
centralized, rules-based platform provides Travel Channel`s IT organization with
the visibility, reliability, and governance that it requires. MessageWay`s
absolute automated control and fine-grained monitoring spans every hop in the
transfer lifecycle of dailies, including scheduling, encryption, compression,
transformation, logging/audit, exception handling, and delivery notifications
and confirmations.

"Our field crews were frequently tested by tight deadlines put at risk by
undependable local telecommunications infrastructure. Transcoding meant costly
hardware was being shipped around and not returned, and it wasn`t always easy to
know exactly who was transferring what files, or if copies of dailies were being
left on third party servers after upload to pre-production," said Richard Hood,
Senior Manager, IT Operations at Travel Channel. "Now even our largest files are
sent directly to their intended destination reliably, accurately, and securely,
without any special desktop software or intervention by Travel Channel staff. We
foresee the day when a single pre-production transmission reaches over a hundred
hours of content and exceeds a terabyte in size. With MessageWay, we have a
single solution that can handle Travel Channel`s entire transmission load, from
pre-production to final push to our syndication service."

"Content movement and workflow management in the media industry can be
complicated by the extreme size of files and the tight delivery windows imposed
by broadcast schedules," said Greg Faubert, president and CEO of MessageWay
Solutions. "MessageWay`s streaming architecture ensures that content arrives
intact and on schedule at its intended destination, regardless of whether it`s a
50 megabyte .jpg file or a 50 gigabyte HD media file."
