John Hancock Financial Network Contributes to the MDRT Foundation as a
Corporate Silver Sponsor

BOSTON, June 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- John Hancock Financial Network
(JHFN) is an MDRT Foundation Corporate Silver Sponsor for the third
consecutive year after making its contribution to the organization for 2009.
Founded in 1927, MDRT is a premier, international network of leading financial
services professionals. The MDRT Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the
MDRT and showcases the generous and caring spirit of MDRT members.

"The MDRT's focus on excellence, continuous improvement and giving back to the
community resonates with our beliefs and is something that many of our
financial representatives strive to accomplish," says Peter Gordon, President
of JHFN. "We are happy to support the philanthropic programs of the MDRT
Foundation again this year."

Jennifer Borislow, CLU, the founder and principal of Borislow Insurance in
Methuen, MA and an independent firm of Boston Partners - member of JHFN,
attests to the value of getting involved in the MDRT. She was named 2008-2009
Secretary of the MDRT Executive Committee and her five-year term will
culminate with her presidency in 2012.

"My MDRT membership and active involvement has meant lifelong friendships and
new ideas that have changed me and my practice," explains Borislow. "Just as
important, however, is the emphasis on a holistic view of success which
includes a balance of personal and professional achievement with civic and
charitable work."

As an active MDRT member for 18 consecutive years, Marcus T. Henderson, Sr,
LUTCF, president of Henderson Financial Group in Nashville, TN an independent
firm of Innovative Financial Group - member of JHFN, believes that the
organization provides the opportunity for financial professionals to take the
time to reflect on the challenges facing them and how to overcome those
challenges. "All too often we are too busy working 'in' our business to get
the job done for that day or week," he says. "The members of the MDRT are some
of the best in this business and their shared experiences allow you to learn
how to work 'on' your business for future growth which includes giving back to
the community."

A notable distinction of the MDRT Foundation is that the grants given by the
MDRT Foundation are distributed to organizations in which MDRT members have a
vested interest. All grant recipients have either been endorsed by an MDRT
member or are receiving money in honor of a member's high level of
involvement.
