DALLAS--(Business Wire)--
As temperatures across Oncor`s service area are reaching continuous 100-degree
marks, Oncor is maximizing its emergency-response staff to prepare for power
outages that will occur due to the excess heat and increased electrical demand.
During hot Texas summers, the grid is put under a lot of pressure, so the
increase in staff, combined with other Oncor preparations, will address the
continued load demand from the heat.

In addition to preparations for added power requirements made years in advance
through the construction of new transmission lines, Oncor prepares throughout
the year by constantly monitoring, maintaining and upgrading equipment. Oncor
continually builds new transmission and distribution lines and, in recent years,
has begun investing in smart grid technology to limit the extent of outages and
shorten the length when an outage does occur.

"Even with all of the preparation and maintenance that Oncor does, outages will
occur anytime temperatures get this high due to the stress put on the system,
especially early in the summer," said Brenda Pulis, Oncor Senior Vice President,
Distribution. "To address that, we want to make sure we have the right number of
employees and the right amount of equipment readily available to safely address
these heat-related outages. The extreme temperatures also take a toll on our
employees, who must be diligent about not overheating."

Critical care customers should make sure they are also ready for what the heat
may bring. Critical care customers need to have back-up plans in case there is
an outage, such as an alternative place to seek shelter in case of an extended
outage. To determine if a customer qualifies for the critical care list,
consumers should contact their Retail Electric Provider.

Consumers are urged to report an outage as soon as it occurs by calling Oncor at
1.888.313.4747 or by calling the outage number on their electric bill. Please do
not assume that Oncor knows your power is out.

Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC ("Oncor") is a regulated electric
distribution and transmission business that uses superior asset management
skills to provide reliable electricity delivery to consumers. Oncor operates the
largest distribution and transmission system in Texas, delivering power to
approximately 3 million homes and businesses and operating approximately 117,000
miles of transmission and distribution lines in Texas. While Oncor is owned by a
limited number of investors (including majority owner, Energy Future Holdings
Corp.), Oncor is managed by its Board of Directors, which is comprised of a
majority of independent directors.
