TODAY`S ENERGY DECISIONS: WOMEN BUSINESS OWNERS WEIGH IN

A new national Women`s Survey on Energy and the Environment shows women business
owners:

* Want clean energy, and believe solar, wind and nuclear should play a very or
somewhat important role in addressing our country`s electricity needs (89
percent for solar, 86 percent for wind and 71 percent for nuclear)
* 87 percent support federal tax incentives for companies to become more energy
efficient and use more clean energy, including 52 percent who strongly support
them
* 63 percent agree that global warming is one of the most serious problems
facing the world and we need to address it now with aggressive action while
strengthening the economy
* 64 percent of women business owners favor a cap and trade proposal, and 36
percent oppose it

Those are the results of a new national Women's Survey on Energy & the
Environment commissioned by Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) in
collaboration with the Women's Council on Energy and the Environment (WCEE).

"Energy and environmental issues present significant challenges and
opportunities for women and minority owned small businesses, including the
effect of high fuel prices, concerns about sufficient supply of energy, and
conservation endeavors. It is imperative that their voices be heard at this
critical time," said Barbara Kasoff, president of WIPP, a national bi-partisan
organization that advocates on behalf of women and minorities in business.

Interestingly, while women business owners tend to be more knowledgeable than
women in general about energy sources and their impact on the environment, most
American women are not informed about the primary cause of global warming
(electricity) and which energy sources are clean, according to a companion
survey of 801 women 18 years or older.

Greenberg Quinlan Rosner, the international public opinion research and
consulting firm, conducted a national survey of 801 women 18 years or older, and
a national web survey of 455 women business owners between May 14 and 18, 2009.
The margin of error for women 18 years and older is plus or minus 3.5 percent.
