CFIA/Allergy Alert-Undeclared Sulphites in Sweet Potato Slice

OTTAWA, ONTARIO, Jun 26 (MARKET WIRE) --

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with
sensitivity to sulphites not to consume the Sweet Potato Slice product
described below. The affected product may contain sulphites which are not
declared on the label.
All codes of the Sweet Potato Slice sold in a 454 g package bearing UPC 6
941882 504139 are affected by this alert. This product is manufactured by
Zhongshan Kaxing Industry & Trade Co., Ltd. in China.
The affected product is known to have been distributed in British
Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. However, it may have been
distributed nationally.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of
this product.
Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening
reaction in persons with sensitivity to sulphites.
The importer is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the
marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
