California Physician Groups to Meet in San Diego to Address State Budget Crisis and Federal Health Reform Proposals

The California Association of Physician Groups (CAPG) will host their 2009
Annual Healthcare Conference June 25 - 28 at the San Diego Marriott Hotel and
Marina in San Diego, CA. Over 1,200 physicians, health care professionals and
health plan executives are expected to attend. California`s state budget crisis
and federal healthcare reform will be priority topics. Highlights include:

Robert Reich, Former U.S. Secretary of Labor
Robert Reich is one of the nation`s leading thinkers on the subjects of work and
the economy. Reich was the nation`s Labor Secretary during the first Clinton
administration and served as an economic advisor on President Obama`s transition
team. He is now a professor of public policy at University of California,
Berkeley.

Donna Shalala, former U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services
A Clinton appointee, Shalala served for eight years - the longest serving U.S.
Secretary of Health and Human Services in U.S. history. She was instrumental in
directing the federal welfare reform process, instituting the approval of all
State Children`s Health Insurance Programs (SCHIP), raising child immunization
rates to the highest levels in history, leading major FDA drug approval reforms,
and directing major Medicare reform policies. She currently serves as the
President of the University of Miami and as a professor of political science.

Mark D. Smith, M.D., President and CEO, California HealthCare Foundation
Dr. Smith heads the California Healthcare Foundation, which is dedicated to
improving the health of the people of California through key programs:
innovations for the underserved, better chronic disease care, and market and
policy monitoring. A board-certified internist, he is a member of the clinical
faculty and the University of California San Francisco and an attending
