Colruyt says farmers block distribution centres

BRUSSELS, June 29 (Reuters) - Belgian discount supermarket chain Colruyt (COLR.BR) said on Monday farmers had blocked the entrance to two of its distribution centres on Sunday night, demanding higher prices for the milk they supply.

The farmers had threatened to block the distribution centres for 24 hours, or even several days, but a spokesman for the group said he thought the blockade was slowly being lifted.

Colruyt said in a statement the blockade could cost the company millions of euros.

It added that certain goods might not be available for about a week as a result of a 24-hour halt in supplies. (Reporting by Antonia van de Velde; Editing by David Holmes)
