MORRISVILLE, NC, Jun 29 (MARKET WIRE) --
Tekelec (NASDAQ: TKLC), the network signaling, mobile messaging and
performance management company, will present number portability
implementation best practices at GSMA Latin America Mobile Conference
2009 in San Jose, Costa Rica from June 30 - July 2, 2009.

Mario Gonzalez, sales manager in Tekelec's Caribbean and Latin America
(CALA) territory, will highlight Tekelec's installation experiences at
operators in several Latin American countries. Specific topics will cover
implementation options, regulatory issues and support for both operators
and regulators. The Technical Working Group presentation is scheduled for
June 30 at 4:45 p.m.

Tekelec has installed its number portability solution across 84 service
providers in 31 countries, including Brazil, Dominican Republic, and
Mexico. Additional customers in Ecuador and Peru are undergoing number
portability installations. The presentation topic is especially timely as
several other nations are scheduled to introduce number portability in
2010 and 2011, including: Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica,
Guatemala, Panama and Venezuela.

Tekelec was the first to deploy integrated number portability, in 1997
with Bell Atlantic (now Verizon). According to the Number Portability
Research Note published by industry research and consultancy firm
Analysys Mason, the company has the largest global market share for
real-time connection number portability solutions, at 35 percent.
Tekelec's solution supports number portability for voice, SMS, MMS and
pre-paid calls, and covers GSM, CDMA, fixed networks, and cable, as well
as intra-carrier number retention.

In addition to the Analysys Mason report, Tekelec has also published its
free whitepaper Operator Guidelines for Number Portability.
