More than 1200 attended the 'live' event

SAN FRANCISCO, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Last week, TechInsights hosted its
first virtual event since 2002 focused on multicore processors which attracted
more than 3,500 registrants. The virtual event, "Multicore is Coming: Are You
Ready" brought together the design engineering community from over 90
countries as well as leading technology vendors to demonstrate products, view
live presentations and virtually meet potential business partners, without
ever having to leave the office. The event covered the challenges and
competing approaches designers face when adopting multicore solutions and its
implications on the software and tools as well as available products and
services from leading vendors.

"The virtual event was packed with valuable multicore-focused content from
conference sessions to exhibits - we had it all," said David Blaza, Vice
President, Events and Embedded Systems, TechInsights. "It was an unrivaled
experience for attendees and vendors alike."

The virtual conference, which took place June 18, at 11:00a.m. EDT, was seven
hours in length. The Stanford University professor, Kunle Olukotun presented
the opening keynote. Kunle has been a major figure in multicore technology
since the mid 90's and is well known for leading the Stanford Hydra research
project which developed one of the first chip multiprocessors with support for
thread-level speculation (TLS).

Attendees were able to chat with other event goers in real-time inside virtual
booths in the Exhibit Hall as well as participate in scheduled chat
discussions. EE Times offered a variety of resources - white papers, articles,
and webinars - in its Resource Center. In addition, attendees were able to
network with peers and others, and exchange virtual business cards in the
Networking Lounge and extend their relationships beyond the virtual tradeshow
environment.

Attendance figures and other success metrics for the EE Times Multicore
Virtual Conference include:

industry

Frank Schirrmeister, Director, Product Marketing, System-Level Solutions was a
participant for Synopsys, a gold sponsor, and wrote several short pieces about
it on his blog that relate his experience as a vendor rep and participant in a
panel. "We had constantly between 10 and 15 people at the booth, I logged
about 40 or so interesting conversations," blogged Schirrmeister. "That's
pretty good for a morning's 3 hours of work from my office." Read more
comments on "A View from the Top" Schirrmeister's blog dedicated to
system-level design and embedded software.

Platinum sponsors included, Intel and Wind River, gold sponsors included
Freescale, Synopsys and Tilera and silver sponsors included 6Wind and
