Toshiba`s Laptops for Schools Program Establishes One-to-One Learning Tools for
Students and Teachers; Scholarships Support Students` Education
WASHINGTON--(Business Wire)--
Toshiba`s Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America
Information Systems, Inc., is showcasing all of its latest educational products
at the 2009 National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) being held at the
Washington D.C. Convention Center (Booth #3218), June 28 to July 1, 2009.
Toshiba`s mobile offerings for education include its newest mini NB205 for
note-taking and laptop training in early grades. Other offerings range from
high-performance thin and light laptops like the Tecra R10 and Portégé R600 to
the award-winning Portégé M750 Tablet PCs.

Toshiba Laptops for Schools

Toshiba has long been a pioneer in mobile technology for education as it was the
first, partnering with Microsoft, to initiate the Laptops for Schools program in
the United States. Toshiba created the program in 1995 to assist K-12 schools in
successfully planning for and executing one-to-one laptop programs. Last year,
Toshiba selected CDW-G, a leading provider of technology products and services
for education, to collaborate this effort to further enable anytime, anywhere
learning nationwide. Together, Toshiba and CDW-G donated more than $150,000
worth of education-focused technology products to three selected schools. The
products include Toshiba TDP-TW100U wireless projectors for classrooms and
Toshiba Portégé Tablet PCs for the teachers and students, as well as Toshiba
accessories like Tablet PC port replicators and 6-cell slice batteries to
enhance their anytime, anywhere learning experience.

This year`s recipients of the Laptops for Schools donations include:

* Antwerp Local School, Antwerp, OH
* Watauga High School, Boone, NC
* Kilgore ISD, Kilgore, TX

"As a pioneer of the one-to-one learning movement, Toshiba is proud to partner
with CDW-G on the Laptops for School program," said Patrick Mani, vice president
field sales, Toshiba`s Digital Products Division. "The program continues to grow
providing innovative technology solutions to more students and faculty at
schools throughout the United States."

Watauga High School uses its Toshiba Portégé Tablet PCs for hands-on learning
exercises in their freshman geometry classes. The Tablet PC`s unique digital pen
allows students to work through geometry problems on the laptop`s touch screen
and record their methods for solving them. Watauga students share their
problem-solving techniques with their peers using a collaborative teach-to-learn
model which helps with critical thinking and dialogue.

Antwerp Local School`s Laptops for Schools program improves student learning and
motivation by encouraging note-taking and improving communication between
students and teachers. Traveling on a Learn & Serve America grant, five students
from Antwerp will be attending NECC to learn about green technology and what
they can do in their district to save energy and money. They will carry the
donated Toshiba Portégé M700 Tablet PCs to document their findings at the NECC
conference.

Scholarships and More

Toshiba has helped students by awarding more than $189,000 in college
scholarship funds over the last 10 years as part of its annual Toshiba Classic
PGA golf tournament. Through this event, Toshiba has given 110 laptops and more
than $250,000 in support of local Orange County schools. To further support
future leaders in innovation, Toshiba also distributes teacher grants to help
establish innovative learning environments in schools nationwide.

Through Toshiba`s involvement with Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision, the world`s
largest K-12 science and technology competition, Toshiba has awarded more than
one million dollars worth of savings bonds and prizes including laptops and
portable DVD players to almost 250,000 students. Since its inception in 1992,
ExploraVision stands out as one of the nation`s leading education programs that
promotes student interest in science and technological innovation.
