GM's Opel has hundreds of millions in cash-trustee

FRANKFURT, June 29 (Reuters) - Bankrupt U.S. carmaker General Motors' GMGMQ.PK German business Opel has hundreds of millions of euros in cash, the chairman of the trust overseeing Opel said on Monday.

"I know only that a nine-digit cash amount is on hand," Fred Irwin told reporters, adding the exact figure was toward the low hundreds of millions.

He said time was against the idea of finding a completely new investor other than Canadian automotive supplier Magna International MGa.TO, which is negotiating with GM to strike a binding agreement to buy Opel along with Russian partners.
