Medical Center Leverages Fusionfx Solution Suite to Improve Patient Experience

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Carefx announced today
Seattle-based Virginia Mason Medical Center, a nationally recognized
non-profit provider of integrated health services, has chosen the Fusionfx
Solution Suite to deliver interoperability between its multiple information
systems. The Fusionfx Solution Suite synchronizes patient data across existing
systems, departments and facilities and provides Virginia Mason staff and
clinicians with an easier, more efficient way to schedule patients across the
medical center.

A "Leapfrog Top Hospital," Virginia Mason works to continually improve the
patient experience, which is why it chose to implement an innovative
scheduling system and supporting processes that streamline activities for
patients and caregivers alike. For Virginia Mason staff and clinicians, the
new system will make it easier for those in the call center and other
departments and facilities to schedule patients without having to make
duplicate entries or manually convey information across systems. On the
patient side of the equation, it will be more convenient to book, remember and
keep appointments.

Virginia Mason selected Carefx's Fusionfx Solution Suite because of the
powerful clinical context and workflow technology of Fusionfx, as well as the
complete identity management solution, including single sign-on and
provisioning for Virginia Mason's key clinical systems. Equally important to
the medical center's decision was Carefx's clinical expertise, adherence to
industry best practices and long-standing relationships with IBM, GE and
Cerner, all key business partners of Virginia Mason.

Virginia Mason physicians, nurses and allied health professionals will be able
to obtain rapid access to patient scheduling information from diverse systems,
including Cerner's PowerChart and Clinical Information System, GE Centricity's
Business Web and RIS, and Phillips iSite PACS System.

"Carefx presented a cost-effective approach that will take Virginia Mason
fewer than six months to implement and will provide indispensable flexibility
and scalability for our ever-changing environment," said Steve Tsukuno,
Director of Information Systems at Virginia Mason. "Our entire organization,
as well as our patient population, will benefit from streamlined workflows,
highly efficient scheduling capabilities and rapid access to patient
information from multiple systems delivered through the Fusionfx Solution
Suite from Carefx."

"Carefx is proud to support Virginia Mason's strategy of always putting the
patient first and leveraging technology solutions to improve patient care
quality," said Andrew Hurd, Carefx's Chairman and CEO. "We pride ourselves on
delivering solutions that are open, flexible and scalable, while empowering
care providers to improve the staff and patient care experience. We look
forward to partnering with Virginia Mason to fulfill its business and clinical
mission and advance healthcare in the Seattle area."
