Innovative Web-based Product StrataLogica Delivers Interactive Maps, Globes and
Multimedia Content to Teachers and Students
CHICAGO--(Business Wire)--
Roundarch, a leader in digital design and implementation, was tapped by NYSTROM
Herff Jones Education Division, the leading publisher of maps, globes, atlases,
and hands-on social studies programs for students K-12 for over 100 years, to
create StrataLogica, a new Web-based technology that brings Nystrom`s
age-appropriate content to life in an interactive three-dimensional environment.
StrataLogica is one of the first educational applications built on the Google
Earth API Premier platform, which allows developers to utilize Google Earth
within their own customized Web-based experiences.

"Nystrom selected Roundarch because of the company`s depth of experience in
developing rich and innovative digital solutions from concept to delivery," said
Don Rescigno, director of marketing at Herff Jones Education Division.
"Roundarch and Nystrom have partnered to deliver a ground-breaking,
highly-visual Web-based solution to aid educators in teaching geography and
social studies in and out of the classroom. Nystrom maps, globes, atlases, and
other curriculum have been integrated into classrooms for generations and have
long been considered the standard. Today we have redefined that standard by
creating a tool that engages students and brings the curriculum to life. We are
making learning more effective and fun thanks to Roundarch. They were integral
in helping us to realize our vision."

Roundarch conducted extensive research and development to determine the best way
to deliver interactive 3-D mapping and social studies curriculum in an
experience that is user-friendly for teachers and students alike. Roundarch
found that building the digital solution on an existing API (application
programming interface) served from the "cloud" would allow the richest and most
interactive experience possible, while creating a "zero-footprint" application
for schools.

"Based on our research of the space, which included reviewing the various
software capabilities and APIs available, Roundarch recommended building the
solution utilizing Google Earth. Our goal was to create an environment where
teachers and students can actively engage with geography, history and other
subjects, because that`s when student learning is most effective. Utilizing
Google Earth as part of the overall application made the opportunities endless.
We are very excited about combining education with rich Internet technologies to
create the next generation of learning tools," said Scott Judy, Roundarch`s
director of user experience. "The Google Earth API integrated with other
technologies and a great user experience design, made it possible to transform
Nystrom`s breadth of age-appropriate curriculum into the future of immersive
education."

StrataLogica`s features include the ability to:

* zoom across, in and out of maps and globes and compare them side-by-side
* explore related multimedia content in the context of time and place
* use interactive tools to measure distance
* highlight key information
* add text and placemarks

"We`ve only scratched the surface of what is capable with StrataLogica," said
Judy. "This is going to change way the way our children learn about their
world."

StrataLogica will be available in classrooms early this fall and will debut at
the National Educational Computing Conference in Washington D.C. June 28 - July
1, 2009.
