Aberdeen Group research reveals strategies for employee allocation and impact
WOODBURY, N.Y.--(Business Wire)--
Valiant, a premier provider of comprehensive workforce management solutions
delivered on a hosted Software as a Service (SaaS) platform, today announced the
publication of an important new report by the Aberdeen Group.

Workforce Scheduling: Managerial Strategies for Driving Down Costs While
Escalating Customer Satisfaction reveals that Best-in-Class companies utilize
workforce scheduling to achieve operational performance gains that are up to 30
times greater than other companies. The report, issued by the Aberdeen Group and
co-sponsored by Valiant, found that companies that focus on and execute
efficient employee scheduling strategies experienced average annual gains of at
least 30% across three key performance criteria: workforce capacity utilization;
customer satisfaction; and employee productivity.

The study analyzed data collected from more than 350 executives. Among its
findings:

* While scheduling is an integral part of Best-in-Class organizations` workforce
management strategies, only 43% of the 350 executives surveyed indicated their
organizations currently have a formalized scheduling system in place.
* 88% of Best-in-Class companies have standardized a single scheduling process
that is used across their entire enterprise or can be tweaked by region or
business unit.
* 71% of Best-in-Class companies have integrated their scheduling process with
their organization`s comprehensive workforce management strategy.

"An effective workforce scheduling process allows an organization to combat two
competing forces that have been exacerbated by the current economy: 1) the need
to contain operational costs via efficient planning and staffing; and 2) the
need to capture and retain customers via better allocation and alignment of
skills with job requirements and customer needs" said Kevin Martin, vice
president and group director at Aberdeen Group, and co-author of the workforce
scheduling report.

Based on its findings, Aberdeen Group put forth a number of specific
recommendations for improving overall corporate performance. These include:

* Providing employees with real-time visibility into schedules and managers with
the ability to forecast and act on scheduling issues before they happen
* Enabling managers and supervisors to create schedules based on skills,
certifications and/or seniority
* Regularly reporting on and updating overall workforce management progress to
key stakeholders

"Valiant has always invested heavily in technology and thought leadership that
allows our clients to achieve best practices across their organizations," said
Anthony Lackey, Valiant`s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "This report
provides more objective evidence of the primary role an effective workforce
management scheduling strategy plays in creating Best-in-Class performance."
