NEW YORK, NY, Jun 30 (MARKET WIRE) --
Joe Meyer, a former Vice President & General Manager for AOL's Quigo
Technologies, has been named President and CEO of HopStop.com, the
leading online city transit guide providing door-to-door mass transit
directions within several large metropolitan markets including Boston,
Chicago, London, New York City, San Francisco and Washington, DC. Mr.
Meyer, appointed by HopStop's Board of Directors, replaces founding CEO
Chinedu Echeruo, who recently left to start a private equity fund focused
on Africa.
"I see an opportunity to aggressively expand HopStop into a national
consumer service that provides mass transit directions and local services
within the largest cities throughout the North America, Western Europe and
beyond. In doing so, HopStop will provide national and local advertisers
alike with the unique opportunity to geo-target metropolitan travelers
based on their starting-and-ending destinations," says Mr. Meyer. "I also
plan to expand HopStop into a web-services solution for national and local
digital media companies by enabling them to offer the HopStop user
experience on their own websites and mobile apps. HopStop will also
rapidly expand its mobile services, including the development of useful
apps, so that users can access and interface with HopStop's directions and
services while they're on-the-go."
"Joe Meyer has a proven track-record in building online brands and growing
revenue for performance-based marketers. It's this unique skill-set and
experience that will put HopStop on the fast track to success," says Yaron
Galai, a HopStop Board member and investor.
At Quigo, Mr. Meyer was responsible for on-boarding and managing exclusive
partnerships with hundreds of leading online publishers within the Quigo
AdSonar ad network. He and his team worked collaboratively with each
partner to optimize and scale their performance-based marketing revenue.
Mr. Meyer was also responsible for all white-label ad sales at Quigo, a
leading contextual ad network that was acquired by AOL in December of
2007. Prior to the AOL acquisition, Mr. Meyer was instrumental in
orchestrating significant revenue-generating partnerships with Time Inc.,
as well as with ABC News, CareerBuilder, ESPN, Forbes, Fox News, USA
Today, Fodor's, Lonely Planet and several other leading digital media
companies.
Prior to Quigo, Mr. Meyer was an Entrepreneur-in-Residence for Diamondhead
Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm located in Silicon Valley
that has since merged with Onset Ventures. Earlier, he was a General
Manager at eBay at which he incubated and launched eBay's co-op
advertising program, and also managed several large product categories
for the company.
Mr. Meyer is on the Board of Advisors for Adtuitive, Snooth and
Spongecell, and is also on the Board of Directors for Belief Networks and
Kalexo. He is married and lives in Rye Neck, NY with his wife and four
children. Mr. Meyer holds a BA degree from Georgetown University, and an
MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
HopStop (www.hopstop.com) provides door-to-door directions to city
residents and tourists via partnerships with leading public transportation
agencies. The company is building the first national network to facilitate
and encourage inter-city as well as intra-city travel by aggregating
numerous mass transit systems into one streamlined user experience. The
company's environmentally-friendly service is currently available in
Boston, Chicago, London, New York City, San Francisco and Washington, DC.
HopStop.com also offers directions and the locations of nearby subway and
bus stops remotely on customer cell phones and PDAs via its mobile apps,
and its City Guide also enables users to search for places to eat, drink,
sleep and visit while they're getting from point A to point B. HopStop.com
is based in NYC, and is financed by private investors.
