With 12 Hours Until Budget Deadline, Californians Crank Up Heat On
Schwarzenegger

With his legacy in the balance, Governor urged to sign compromise budget

SAN FRANCISCO, June 30 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With just 12 hours left
until California begins to default on its obligations to seniors, people with
disabilities, students and small businesses, health care workers and community
activists are gathering in front of the Governor's San Francisco office to
demand that Governor Schwarzenegger stop blocking a compromise budget package
that meets his own test of "shared sacrifice."

Several events will also take place simultaneously today at the Governor's
offices in Fresno, Sacramento, Riverside, Los Angeles and San Diego, building
public pressure on Governor Schwarzenegger to support the budget plan passed
in the Assembly Sunday and the Senate on Monday.

If the budget plan approved by both houses of the state legislature is not
signed by Governor Schwarzenegger by midnight tonight, the state will begin
issuing IOUs to seniors, people with disabilities, college students, small
businesses and others who are counting on the state to make ends meet.
