FRANKFURT, June 30 (Reuters) - Shares in Q-Cells (QCEG.DE) extended gains on Tuesday amid market talk that German engineering conglomerate Siemens (SIEGn.DE) might be interested in taking a stake in the solar energy specialist.

"This is an old rumour and I don't really believe it," a Frankfurt-based trader said.

A second trader said he was also sceptical of the rumour and believed it was coming from the United States.

A Siemens spokesman declined to comment on the market talk.

At 1348 GMT, Q-Cells shares were 4.2 percent higher at 14.78 euros, having risen as high as 14.97 euros per share.

Shares in Siemens were down 0.4 percent at 50.2 euros per share, trading largely within the band of 50.04-50.63 euros per share, where they had traded throughout the day on Tuesday.
