MILAN, July 7 (Reuters) - Italian utility Acea SpA (ACE.MI) denied a newspaper report its board would meet on Tuesday to discuss a report on relations with its French shareholder GDF Suez (GSZ.PA), an Acea spokesman said on Tuesday.

Finanza & Mercati said the board would meet to discuss proposals by investment bank Mediobanca (MDBI.MI) as well as the appointment of a new managing director.

"There will be a board meeting on July 9 but it will not discuss any Mediobanca report," the spokesman said.

In June, Acea Chairman Giancarlo Cremonesi said there should be clarification on relations between the utility and GDF Suez between the end of June and July.

GDF Suez, which holds 9.98 percent of Acea, wants to expand its joint venture with the Rome-based utility in the power sector to include gas activities. (Reporting by Stephen Jewkes; Editing by Jon Loades-Carter)
