LINDON, Utah, July 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Helius, a Hughes company, today
announced it has been named a recipient of the Federal Government Distance
Learning Association's (FGDLA) Innovation Award for the development of
emerging distance learning technologies that support the federal government.
Additionally, the Law Enforcement Information Management Section (LEIM) of the
International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) has recognized Helius for
its contributions to law enforcement.

Helius received the Innovation Award at the FGDLA Annual Awards Ceremony for
its support of the Government Alliance for Training & Education by Satellite
(GATES) Summit and other distance learning activities benefitting the federal
government. The FGDLA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting use
of distance learning in support of the education and training needs of federal

brought to the distance learning community have been invaluable. We selected
Helius as this year's Innovation Award recipient in recognition of their
development of emerging distance learning technologies that directly support
the federal government."

At the recent 33rd Annual LEIM Section Annual Conference and Training

deputies and staff.

"We are honored to have been acknowledged by these two leading organizations,"
said Mike Tippets, president of Helius. "Integrated distance learning and
communications solutions are fundamentally important to federal, state, and
local government agencies, and we are privileged to support their work in
serving their constituents."
