St. Louis Ocarina store unveils a new clay wind instrument that doubles as a
small cup
ST. LOUIS--(Business Wire)--
For the last few years, the St. Louis Ocarina store has provided people across
the country with a variety of ocarinas - small, affordable, versatile wind
instruments with a 12,000-year-old history and a soothing, otherworldly tone.
This month, the store is releasing a new model of the small flute that is sure
to interest amateurs, professionals, and collectors alike: an ocarina that
doubles as a piece of art and a teacup.

Developed over the past six months by musicians at the St. Louis School of Music
and a pottery expert, the teacup ocarina, the Teacarina, represents the
playfulness, practicality, and originality of the instrument - it is small
enough to fit in a purse or pocket; it is affordable enough that even children
can own one; and if you are thirsty, you can drink from it.

"Music is essential in our lives - it should be our daily bread," said St. Louis
School of Music director and ocarina enthusiast Dr. Dennis Yeh. "The Teacarina
represents this simple idea of carrying music with us in our day-to-day lives.
Each day we must drink to quench our thirst, and now every day we can play a
melody on our ocarina to quench our thirst for music."

The patent-pending Teacarina design consists of glazed clay and the traditional
four-hole fingering, while a hidden chamber within the cup`s wall hosts the
inner workings of the instrument itself. Those wishing to learn to play the
instrument can purchase ocarina sheet music at the store, take lessons from a
staff member, or watch instructional ocarina YouTube videos created by the
company.

"The ocarina is special to us because anyone can play it, and it can be played
anywhere," explained Yeh. "Buying and learning to play an instrument like the
violin can cost tens of thousands of dollars, but the ocarina is a simpler, more
practical way to cultivate music in your life. People of all ages have the
ability to have an ocarina in their lives."

The Teacarina is now available for sale, both on location at the St. Louis
Ocarina store and online. To order a Teacarina or to learn more about ocarinas,
