Detour Gold Reports Encouraging Drill Results from its Footwall Zone Discovery at Detour Lake in Ontario

Detour Gold Corporation (TSX: DGC) ("Detour Gold" or the "Company") is
pleased to report assay results for an additional 36 holes totaling
12,095 metres (including three holes abandoned for 362 metres) from its
2009 infill diamond drilling program at the Detour Lake project in
northern Ontario. Thus far in 2009, the Company has completed 43,248
metres of drilling of the budgeted 50,000 metres, mainly in the centre of
the deposit (Gap Zone) and at the east end of the deposit (new zone in
footwall in area of former open pit). The Company is expanding its
drilling program for 2009 by adding an additional 45,000 metres, which
will focus on completing the 40 metre grid spacing to the west of the
Calcite Zone (west of section 18,500E). The additional program started
last week with six drill rigs on site.

The Company obtained encouraging drill results from the Footwall Zone
located near-surface to the south of the former pit. The Footwall Zone
was initially discovered in late 2007 with hole DG-07-194 (16.97 g/t
(uncut) or 6.10 g/t (cut) over 15 metres) and tested over a strike length
of 600 metres with a 9,028 metre drilling program (37 holes) completed in
the first quarter of 2009. Those results are expected to have a positive
impact for both the pre-feasibility and feasibility study (approximately
75% of the holes from this program are in the pre-feasibility study).
Additional drilling is planned for 2009 to further test the Footwall Zone.

Today's results include 24 holes showing continuity of the gold
mineralization in the Footwall Zone of the Sunday Lake Deformation Zone
(SLDZ), within and beyond the limit of the current US$700 pit shell (used
for the mineral resource estimate of July 2008). Holes DG-09-655 and 658,
on section 20,200E, intersected 2.95 g/t (uncut) or 2.53 g/t (cut) over
32.0 metres and 1.34 g/t over 39.0 metres, respectively. Another
significant intersection included 5.82 g/t (uncut) or 2.18 g/t (cut) over
14.0 metres in hole DG-09-641 on section 20,320E.

Results from 10 holes (including one hole abandoned) infilling the centre
of the deposit on a 40 metre by 40 metre spacing (from 18,840E to
19,160E, referred to as the Gap Zone) encountered gold mineralization in
the core of the mineralized corridor especially at the contacts between
the massive and pillow flows. The most significant intervals included
hole DG-09-656 with 1.69 g/t over 33.0 metres and 3.14 g/t over 17.0
metres and hole DG-09-652A with 4.01 g/t (uncut) or 2.57 g/t (cut) over
22.0 metres.

Detour Gold's delineation program is being managed by Project Manager,
Mr. Roger Aubertin, P.Eng., a Qualified Person within the meaning of
National Instrument 43-101. Mr. Aubertin has verified and approved the
data disclosed in this release, including the sampling, analytical and
test data underlying the information. Samples are now prepared at both
SGS Minerals Services in Sudbury and Don Mills, Ontario, Canada and
assayed in their laboratory at Don Mills. Analysis for gold is done on
sawn half core samples using fire assay (AA finish). Samples with higher
grade gold ( greater than 5 g/t) are re-assayed using the pulp and
metallics procedures. Standard reference materials, blank and field
duplicate samples are inserted prior to shipment from site to monitor the
