MIAMI, July 7, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Behavioral biometrics leader Authenware
announced today a landmark agreement with Telefonica, employing Authenware's
security features through much of the global telecommunication giant's landline
and mobile communications. Under the deal, Telefonica's login portals will be
armed with the Authentest software, granting access to valid users by analyzing
keystroke patterns and typing behaviors.
"In every corner of the globe today, cyberspace is becoming a more economically
taxing and time consuming business expense," said Tom Helou, Authenware.
"Governments and companies alike have made efforts to protect electronic
information through the continual yet arduous alteration of usernames and
passwords. As the online environment swells, however, security must become less
about diversification and more about personalization. We are excited to begin
working with Telefonica to provide a layer of security that is personal,
allowing their online accounts to be protected by an individual's behaviors
rather than simply a username and password that can be replicated or stolen."
With the agreement, Authenware will initially provide its services to Telefonica
employees within the Information and Fraud Prevention division. Once Authentest
is implemented internally, the keystroke biometric software will then be
incorporated into other critical access points.
"Authentest is the best behavioral biometric security solution that reinforces
application authentication processes and provides additional mechanisms to
monitor and analyze user behavior in accessing information systems," said
Fernando Bosch, Director of Information Security & Fraud Prevention at
Telefonica.
Throughout the contract acquisition, global IT consulting firm Neoris
participated as a liaison between the parties. "Authenware is privileged to
receive the confidence and support of Neoris during this endeavor. Earning the
endorsement of such a reputable company is truly an honor, and for that we show
our utmost appreciation," said Helou.
