Fox Named WesternU Vice President

POMONA, CA, Jul 07 (MARKET WIRE) --
Dr. Thomas G. Fox, whose experience as an executive administrator at five
universities and two nonprofit organizations spans more than three
decades, has been named Senior Vice President of Advancement at Western
University of Health Sciences.
Dr. Fox has served as interim vice president of University Advancement
since January, following his arrival in August 2008 as Special Assistant
to the President. As the permanent vice president, he will continue to
oversee the University's alumni relations, public affairs, and advancement
information departments; will manage the University's fund-raising
efforts, including annual giving, corporate and foundations relations,
gift planning, philanthropy and prospect research; and will help develop
and monitor the University's strategic plan.
The appointment also includes a professorship in the University's
Department of Social Medicine and Health Care Leadership.
Dr. Fox will report directly to WesternU's president, Dr. Philip
Pumerantz.

Dr. Fox came to Western University of Health Sciences after a five-year
stint as Senior Vice President for Advancement at the Florida Institute of
Technology in Melbourne, Fla., named one of America's best colleges in
U.S. News and World Report.
He previously served as Senior Vice President for Advancement and
Sponsored Programs at Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, W.Va.; as
Vice President for Development and Public Affairs at Oregon Health
Sciences University in Portland; and as Executive Vice President of
University Health System of New Jersey.
His experience in nonprofit organizations includes four years (1996-2000)
as Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Operation
Smile, a Norfolk, Va,-based international organization whose volunteer
physicians annually perform more than 7,000 surgeries to repair childhood
facial deformities. From 1994-96, Dr. Fox was President and Chief
Executive Officer at Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, N.J., the
sixth most-visited science center in the United States.
