US STOCKS SNAPSHOT-Wall St dragged lower by energy shares

 NEW YORK, July 7 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks fell further on
Tuesday as investors fretted about the looming earnings season,
while a fifth day of declines for crude oil prices hit energy
shares.
 * The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI fell 80.94
points, or 0.97 percent, to 8,243.93. The Standard & Poor's 500
Index .SPX lost 7.82 points, or 0.87 percent, to 890.90. The
Nasdaq Composite Index .IXIC gave up 17.80 points, or 1.00
percent, at 1,769.60.
