FACTBOX-Security developments in Afghanistan, July 8
July 8 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 0930 GMT on Wednesday.
NURISTAN - Taliban insurgents killed eight Afghan police and abducted another eight in an attack on a district headquarters in eastern Nuristan province on Tuesday, the provincial governor said. Local officials said 21 Taliban fighters were also killed but the Taliban put the figure at four.
HELMAND - A British soldier was killed in an explosion during an operation in southern Helmand province on Tuesday, Britain's Ministry of Defence said.
GHAZNI - Afghan and U.S.-led troops killed several armed insurgents during search operations in eastern Ghazni province overnight, the U.S. military said. One female civilian was killed by a ricocheting round, they said.
KUNDUZ - Taliban fighters set 12 trucks on fire in northern Kunduz province, the local governor said. The trucks belonged to a construction firm and the militants kidnapped two drivers, he said.
