NEW YORK , July 9 (Reuters) - Imprisoned fraudster Bernard Madoff will not appeal the 150-year sentence he received for orchestrating a worldwide multibillion-dollar investment fraud, his lawyer said on Thursday.

"We are not going to be appealing," Madoff's lawyer Ira Lee Sorkin said. "That's our decision and we have no further comment."

Madoff, 71, was sentenced on June 29 by U.S. District Court Judge Denny Chin and had the right to appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit in New York. (Reporting by Grant McCool, editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
