Seoul shares extend losses, down 2.5 pct

SEOUL, July 13 (Reuters) - Seoul shares extended losses to fall 2.5 percent on Monday afternoon, led by key blue chips including Samsung Electronics, with reports North Korean leader Kim Jong-il has pancreatic cancer pressuring shares.

Samsung Electronics (005930.KS), the world's No.1 memory chip maker, was down 2.95 percent, while Hyundai Motor (005380.KS), South Korea's top automaker, declined 2.98 percent.

The Korea Composite Stock Price Index .KS11 (KOSPI) was down 2.50 percent at 1,392.92 points as of 0428 GMT.
