Dr. Raveche Will Discuss Security and Safety Initiatives on July 15

HOBOKEN , N.J., July 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Harold J. Raveche,
President of Stevens Institute of Technology, will speak before an
international audience in The Hague on July 15, extolling the progress made by
the New Jersey institution. President Raveche's talks will highlight Stevens
as a center of excellence in the areas of security and safety initiatives.

Raveche will deliver talks to The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies on
Homeland Security and the KIVI NIRIA, the Royal Institute of Dutch Engineers.

In his first talk, Raveche will discuss global and domestic factors supporting
increased threats and vulnerability to homeland security.

"The lack of a holistic approach in the US to security, intelligence and
defense undermines its ability to conduct risk assessment and minimize
threats," Raveche said, noting that pro-active measures are needed to improve
homeland security based on partnerships between research universities,
government agencies, and business and industry.

In his address to the KIVI NIRIA, Raveche will speak of the importance in
nurturing entrepreneurship and innovation in engineering education and
research.

This is an area that Raveche has spent considerable time and effort in
bringing to Stevens in recent years and one that has been met with much
success.

As such, he will highlight Stevens' model for the marketplace that shows the
realization of university intellectual property, which enhances
entrepreneurship and innovation in business and industry.

"Through external partnerships, enterprises are launched creating shared value
and a deeper understanding of how technological advances lead to economic
growth," Raveche said.
