U.S. House eyeing extending jobless benefits-Hoyer
WASHINGTON, July 14 |
WASHINGTON, July 14 (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives will work to extend jobless benefits "when it becomes necessary", House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said on Tuesday.
The U.S. unemployment rate is at its highest in two decades.
The Maryland Democrat also said he hopes that the positive effects of the $787 billion economic stimulus package Congress passed in February would be apparent in the coming months, despite some criticism from Republicans that it was not effective.
