WASHINGTON, July 15 (Reuters) - The U.S. government plans to have a resolution for lender CIT Group's (CIT.N) liquidity crisis within the next 24 hours, a source familiar with government thinking said on Wednesday.

Discussions among government officials are ongoing, but a resolution is expected soon, the source said, speaking anonymously because the plans could change.
