EU approves Bosch takeover of boiler systems maker

BRUSSELS, July 17 | Fri Jul 17, 2009 3:42am EDT

BRUSSELS, July 17 (Reuters) - A subsidiary of German conglomerate Robert Bosch [ROBG.UL] won permission from the European Commission on Friday to acquire Loos Deutschland, a privately-held supplier of boiler systems.

Bosch Thermotechnik, part of the Bosch group, produces boilers mainly for domestic use under its brands "Buderus" and "Junkers".

"The parties' activities are rather complementary," the Commission, tasked with reviewing mergers and acquisitions in the 27-country European Union, said in a statement. It said the proposed takeover did not give rise to any competition concerns.
