Unlikely SDR allocation will affect inflation -IMF

WASHINGTON, July 20 | Mon Jul 20, 2009 10:53am EDT

WASHINGTON, July 20 (Reuters) - The International Monetary Fund said on Monday a planned allocation of $250 billion in IMF Special Drawing Rights to the fund's 186 member countries is unlikely to have an inflationary impact.

"We don't think there is much to worry about ... The size of the allocation is fairly tiny in proportion to, say, global GDP (gross domestic product)," said Isabelle Mateos y Lago, advisor in the IMF's Policy and Review Department. (Reporting by Lesley Wroughton; Editing by James Dalgleish)
