Kuwait's Zain says no comment on Etisalat interest

KUWAIT, July 21 (Reuters) - Mobile telecoms firm Zain (ZAIN.KW) declined to comment on Emirates Telecommunications Corp's ETEL.AD interest in buying a 51-percent stake in the Kuwaiti group.

"Zain has no comment on that," Zain's spokesman Ibrahim Adel said on Tuesday.

The head of Etisalat's international unit told Reuters on Tuesday that the UAE company wants to buy a majority stake in Zain Group, "given the right values." [ID:nLL452266]

The Kuwaiti firm has been in the news this week after it said it is still reviewing a possible sale of its African operations -- minus Morocco and Sudan -- after French media and telecoms conglomerate Vivendi (VIV.PA) broke off talks on buying the operations on Monday.
