Daimler plans Smart cooperation with Renault-report

FRANKFURT, July 22 (Reuters) -German car maker Daimler (DAIGn.DE) is planning to cooperate with French peer Renault (RENA.PA) on one of its Smart small car models, German magazine manager-magazin reported, citing company sources. The talks -- which have not yet been concluded -- are aimed at forming a cooperation that would see a re-launch of Daimler's Smart ForFour model, whose production was stopped in 2006 in favour of the smaller ForTwo, the magazine reported in a pre-release of an article to be published on July 24.

Daimler, which is due to release second-quarter results on July 29, declined to comment, while Renault was not immediately available for comment.
