Australia's Woolworths says year sales up 7.5 pct

MELBOURNE, July 22 (Reuters) - Woolworths Ltd (WOW.AX), Australia's largest supermarket chain, reported a 7.5 percent rise in full-year sales on a normalised basis, with food and liquor sales in Australia up 9.6 percent.

Woolworths, which also owns Big W discount stores and the Dick Smith electronics chain, said continued sales growth highlighted the strength of the Australian economy.

The retailer had forecast sales growth in the upper single digits for the full year and net profit after tax growth of 11-14 percent on a 52 week comparative basis, or 9-12 percent on a 52 versus 53 week basis.
